Red Carpet Risk Takers: Klum, Patton & Cuoco Earn Honorable Mentions
Style is all about taking risks, and no where is a better example of the taking a fashionable leap of faith than Sunday night’s (January 12) Golden Globe Awards.
Complete with tassel chokers, blooming patterns, and pops of color reminiscent of childhood, the red carpet had it all. Whether you think the bold choices were brilliant or a total bust, each of these out-there starlets deserve an honorable mention for making us talk. Take another look at the award show’s most memorable looks of the evening below.
Lena Dunham: Always on our sartorial radar, the “Girls” star was a vision in an electric yellow Zac Posen. While some were polarized by the ultra-bright pick, many loved how the sheath skimmed Lena’s ladylike frame. Complete with tousled strands and accessorized with her arm candy of choice — some major shoulder ink — a move that lead Dunham’s look to be one of the most memorable of the night.
Heidi Klum: She’s no stranger to showing skin, but this time it wasn’t her skin that caught our attention, rather it was her embellished Marchesa number that had onlookers doing a double take. To add even more intrigue to ensemble, the “Project Runway” host had fans tied up with her choice of a black tassel neck piece. While some despised the style statement, there’s one thing for sure: We’re still buzzing about it.
Drew Barrymore: It’s safe to say Barrymore’s pregnancy glow was in full bloom at last night’s event. The mom-to-be dressed her baby bump in a petal-filled creation by Monique Lhuillier, which she complemented with Roger Vivier shoes, an Edie Parker clutch, and timeless Chanel jewelry. What do we have to say? It’s Drew Barrymore! If her outfit wasn’t just a little bit quirky it just wouldn’t be right.
Paula Patton: Talk about “Blurred Lines.” Mrs. Robin Thicke was the subject of many stares as she paraded her va-va-voom figure down the red carpet in a Stephane Rolland Couture dress — a frock that featured a massive fabric detail along the left side curves. And while her sheath was subject to some scrutiny, there was nothing but praise for Patton’s Charlotte Olympia shoes, Saint Laurent clutch, and David Yurman High jewels.
Kaley Cuoco: She’s a blushing new bride — and with her fashion statement last night, it appears she didn’t want anyone to forget. The blonde beauty arrived to the event in a Rani Zakhem design that delivers a bouquet of floral accents against a pale pink backdrop. Whether or not critics liked her patterned pick, the newlywed was beaming with happiness, and that looks good on anyone.
