Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (India)

Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior is a biographical period action film set in the 17thEndowed with a body of steel and the courage of a lion with an agile mind, Tanhaji goes to war for his King and country, armed with only a few Maratha soldiers.
Co-written and directed by Om Raut, the film marks Raut’s directorial debut in Bollywood. In true Bollywood fashion, despite the action scenes in the movie, Raut was able to inject a Bollywood song-and-dance number by the warriors.
Educated at Syracuse University in New York, the 39-year-old filmmaker was born in Mumbai to a television producer mother (Neena) and a journalist-author father (Bharatkumar). He was inspired by his late grandfather, J.S. Bandekar, a documentary filmmaker and editor, to pursue filmmaking.
Starring Ajay Devgn in the titular role as Tanhaji Malusare, the unsung Maratha warrior and military chieftain in the army of the Maratha king Shivaji, the film is cinematic in scope as it showcases warriors flying from mountains with ropes around their bodies as they fight their oppressors. Filming took place mostly in the Film City in Mumbai and a few scenes shot at Pune. The movie also stars Saif Ali Khan (as Udaybhan Singh Rathod), Kajol, Devgn’s real wife (as Savitribai Malusare), Sharad Kelkar (as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj) and Luke Kenny (as Emperor Aurangzeb).
The fight scenes are reminiscent of the elegantly choreographed fight scenes in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
