In The Ardennes Brothers Dave and Kenneth are reunited on Kenneth’s release, after four years in prison following a failed home invasion. While Kenneth is anxious to dive headfirst into the drug-centered existence that ensnared him in the first place, both Dave and Kenneth’s former girlfriend Sylvie have adopted clean lifestyles. Drugs, crime and the bonds of brotherhood create this dark crime thriller journey.The Ardennes premiered at the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival and boasts an acclaimed cast, including Veerle Baetens and Jan Bijvoet, who appeared in Oscar nominated films The Broken Circle Breakdown (2013) and Embrace of the Serpent (2016). The young Director Robin Pront, co-wrote the screenplay with Jeroen Perceval, who portrays Dave in the film. Pront, known for his straightforward and no-nonsense cinematic style, got instant praise for his first feature film. After the film’s release at TIFF, Pront got named one of the seven up-and-coming directors and got instantly signed by the William Morris Agency, along with his lead actor Kevin Janssen.The Ardennes won no less than eight Ensors (Belgian Oscars) at the Ostend Film Festival. The film is produced by renowned Belgian filmmakers Bart Van Langendonck and Michael Roskam, whose collaboration on the film Bullhead received a Best Foreign Language Film nomination for the 2012 Academy Awards. In recent years the talent of Belgian filmmakers and actors has been blooming and has put a the country’s cinema on the international map. The Ardennes continues that trend, it is a suspenseful thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end.
