The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is celebrating 75 years of its foundation and the first Golden Globe Awards event. Created in 1943 in Los Angeles, CA, by a group of foreign correspondents, the HFPA hosted its first Golden Globe awards presentation in 1944. The founding members of the HFPA, intuited their importance for the world in furthering understanding in a time of global strife. The Golden Globe Awards were conceived to celebrate movies and their growing importance the world over.
