There have been literally hundreds of film version of Mary Shelley’s classic Frankenstein: Or the Modern Prometheus but Guillermo del Toro’s retelling, in this Netflix film, offers details not usually depicted. With a stellar lineup of actors, including Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi, and brilliant behind-the-camera work (composer Alexandre Desplat, d.p. Dan Laustsen, production designer Tamara Deverell, et al.), del Toro remains true to Shelley but makes the story his own.
