Wicked

Wicked (2024), directed by John Chu, is a musical fantasy film that serves as a prequel to L. Frank Baum’s The Wizard of Oz, inventing a story of the witches of Oz. The narrative centers on Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), a misunderstood young woman with green skin who has yet to discover her true power, and Glinda (Ariana Grande), a popular young woman gilded by privilege who has yet to discover her true heart. Their unlikely friendship and ideological clashes set the stage for their transformation into the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch. The adaptation of the Broadway musical premiered in theaters on November 22, 2024, and has grossed over $758 million worldwide.
