We are fully committed to ensuring our membership is reflective of the communities around the world who love film, tv and the artists inspiring and educating them.   We understand that we need to bring in Black members, as well as members from other underrepresented backgrounds, and we will immediately work to implement an action plan to achieve these goals as soon as possible.

Since its founding, Hollywood has adapted to the screen hundreds if not thousands of literary works by white authors, but – with the exception of some anomalies such as Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple in 1985 – has largely ignored the work of their Black peers. In the last decade, however, the commercial and critical success of Black movies has opened Hollywood’s mind and wallet to bringing the work of Black literary icons to the screen.

Angela Bassett (Golden Globe Award winner), Laura Dern (five-time Golden Globe Award winner and eight-time nominee), Salma Hayek (Golden Globe Award winner and two-time nominee), and Jamie Lee Curtis (two-time Golden Globe Award winner and seven-time nominee) joined the star-filled team of presenters at this year’s 78th Annual Golden Globe® Awards.  They will join previously announced presenters Bryce Dallas Howard, Christopher Meloni, Rosie Perez.

In the run-up to the Golden Globes, top stylists gathered on an HFPA sponsored Zoom Round Table to discuss their craft and the challenges of creating a red-carpet moment during a pandemic. Like so many other events the Globes will go virtual this year, which will be unique for everything from show production to fashion – a mainstay of the Golden Globes Ceremony.

TV legend Norman Lear has written, produced, created, or developed TV Shows for over 70 years. This Sunday, at the 78th Golden Globes, he will be awarded the Carol Burnett Award, for outstanding contributions to television on and off the screen.

For many, she's a movie icon, from her humble beginnings in her native England with small parts in Michelangelo Antonioni's Blow-Up and Kaleidoscope to her successful path through many years of French cinema, going from popular comedies in the 70s to the César- nominated dramatic roles in the 80s and 90s. working with great directors such as Jacques Doillon, Jacques Rivette, and Agnes Varda.

Bryce Dallas Howard (Golden Globe Award nominee), Christopher Meloni, Rosie Perez (Golden Globe Award nominee), and Christian Slater (Golden Globe Award winner and three-time nominee) will serve as presenters at this year’s 78th Annual Golden Globe® Awards.  All will be appearing live from New York’s iconic Rainbow Room.
