Twice Golden Globe nominee Jonah Hill has been sidetracked from directing and writing, his true calling, for last 15 years. It all started back in drama school when he took an acting class.

This Thursday, January 24, marks the opening of yet another edition of Robert Redford’s film festival in Utah. This year’s film line-up is impressive as are some of the fest’s sideshow attractions.

Danish actor Jakob Cedergren has a prolific career in Scandinavia, but he has finally caught the world’s attention with his outstanding performance in Gustav Möller’s The Guilty. He plays Asger Holm, a policeman working the emergency dispatch phones at the police station.

Laura Dern, daughter of actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd, was chosen as Miss Golden Globe at age 15, for the 39th awards to be held on Saturday January 30, 1982 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.  Traditionally, starting in 1963, the daughter, and occasionally the son (John Clark Gable in 1995), of Hollywood actors are selected every year by the HFPA board as Miss or Mr.

Wheelchair-bound comedy The Upside pulled off a major upset this weekend and beat superhuman Aquaman to first place at the US box office. Bryan Cranston and Kevin Hart's remake of 2011 French hit The Intouchables took first place with $19.

Among the glitter and glamour of the red carpet, they were a discreet presence but the five young filmmakers nevertheless embodied an important part of what the Golden Globes – and the HFPA – are about: a celebration of storytelling as global art form and universal language.
