John Carroll Lynch -From Acclaimed Character Actor to First-Time Director

“Harry would have loved to see this movie,” says actor John Carroll Lynch (American Horror Story, Fargo, The Founder) making his directorial debut with Lucky, which gives us the final, unforgettable performance by Harry Dean Stanton. One of the most prolific character actors in Hollywood history, appearing in films from Cool Hand Luke (1967) to Alien (1979), from Paris, Texas (1984) to Repo Man (1984), Harry Dean Stanton is the title character in Lucky, a 90-year-old man who lives in a remote desert town at the twilight of his life.

It’s a Finnish Film Affair for the HFPA at the Helsinki Festival

The unique coming of age story Stupid Young Heart, from director Selma Vilhunen, won the Finnish Film Affair Work-in-Progress award at the recent Helsinki International Film Festival. Around 60,000 people flocked to Finland to attend the 30th anniversary of the Love & Anarchy: Helsinki International Film Festival, held from September 14-26 and the three-person jury for the September 19-21 industry showcase event included HFPA member Jenny Cooney Carrillo.
