“The Law According to Lidia Poët” – First Female Lawyer in Italy

The Law According to Lidia Poët is an Italian television series streaming on Netflix, inspired by the true story of the first female lawyer in Italy. Set in the 1880s in the historic city of Turin in the Piedmont region – it had been capital of the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1864 – each of the six episodes deals with a fictional murder mystery, brilliantly solved by this fearless young woman, who offers legal representation to the person unjustly accused of the crime and conducts daring investigations to prove their innocence and discover the real culprit.

Spike Lee – Rewind: Golden Globes Around the World podcast series

In honor of 2023 Black History Month, we are rewinding to 2018, when HFPA member Alessandra Venezia had the privilege of interviewing Spike Lee - writer, director, actor, producer, author and educator who helped revolutionize Modern Black Cinema and inspired countless generations of black filmmakers who have continued to enrich the landscape of film and black culture. Spike’s unique voice captivated audiences from the start, with early films including She’s Gotta Have It (1986), School Daze (1988), Do the Right Thing (1989) and 25th Hour (2002).

Josh Hartnett, 2001 on War – Out of the Archives

The journalists of the Hollywood Foreign Press first interviewed promising young actor Josh Hartnett in May 2001 when he acted with Ben Affleck in Pearl Harbor, directed by Michael Bay: they met him again in December 2001 to talk about Black Hawk Down, directed by Ridley Scott, the story of a 1993 US military raid in Mogadishu, Somalia. Hartnett gave his thoughts on war and the question of military intervention in other countries – a theme certainly relevant today in light of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
