Aimee Lou Wood
Aimee Lou Wood is known for her performances across television, film, and theater. Her breakout role was in the Netflix comedy series Sex Education, written by Laurie Nunn and starring Asa Butterfield and Gillian Anderson. In 2021, Wood was honored with the BAFTA Award for Best Female Comedy Performance. The fourth and final season premiered on Netflix on September 21, 2023.
This spring, Wood starred in season 3 of HBO’s drama series The White Lotus. Season 3 broke the series’ viewing record with over 6 million viewers for the finale and Wood earned a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Supporting Actress, Television. The season premiered on February 16, 2025.
Wood starred in the BBC miniseries Film Club, which she co-wrote with Ralph Davies. The series follows two movie enthusiasts, Tom and Evie, whose unspoken feelings grow in a weekly film club. The show premiered on October 7, 2025. Wood also returned as executive producer and star of the BBC Three series Daddy Issues Season 2. Earlier this year, Wood starred in the Netflix miniseries Toxic Town, a fictionalized telling of the Corby toxic waste case, one of the biggest environmental scandals to occur in the U.K., focusing on three mothers in their fight for justice. Additional television credits include appearing in the Channel 4 series Alice & Jack and in season 4 of On the Edge.
In film, Wood recently wrapped production on the comedy Anxious People directed by Marc Forster and written by David Magee, based on the 2019 novel by Fredrik Backman of the same name. Wood also recently wrapped production on The Idiots, in which she stars with Johnny Flynn. The film is based on the novel “The Gambler Wife: A True Story of Love, Risk, and the Woman Who Saved Dostoyevsky” by Andrew D. Kaufman.
Up next, Wood will star in the four-part Beatles biopic from director Sam Mendes. In 2022, Wood appeared opposite Bill Nighy in Oliver Hermanus’s film, Living. Wood was nominated as Best Supporting Performance at the British Independent Film Awards.
Wood is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her stage credits include “Uncle Vanya” at The Harold Pinter Theatre, “Downstate” at The National Theatre, and most recently played Sally Bowles in “Cabaret” at London’s Kit Kat Club.
