Aimee Lou Wood
Aimee Lou Wood is a BAFTA award-winning actress known for delivering powerful performances across television, film, and theater.
Wood’s breakout role as ‘Aimee Gibbs’ in the Netflix original comedy series SEX EDUCATION, written by Laurie Nunn and starring Asa Butterfield, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, and Gillian Anderson. In 2021, Wood was honored with the BAFTA Award for Best Female Comedy Performance. The fourth and final season premiered on Netflix on September 21, 2023.
This spring, Wood starred as ‘Chelsea’ in season 3 of HBO’s prolific drama series THE WHITE LOTUS. Season 3 broke the series’ viewing record with over 6 million viewers for the finale and Wood earned an Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe nomination in the category of Best Supporting Actress, Television for her performance. The season premiered on February 16, 2025.
Wood starred as ‘Evie’ in the BBC miniseries FILM CLUB, for which she co-wrote alongside Ralph Davies. The series follows two movie enthusiasts, Tom and Evie, whose unspoken feelings grow in a weekly film club. The show premiered on October 7, 2025.
Wood also returned as executive producer and star of the BBC Three series DADDY ISSUES Season 2. She was nominated for a Royal Television Society (UK) award for her performance in Season 1. Season 2 premiered on November 21, 2025.
Earlier this year, Wood starred in the Netflix miniseries TOXIC TOWN, a fictionalized telling of the Corby toxic waste case, one of the biggest environmental scandals to occur in the UK, and three mothers in their fight for justice.
Additional television credits include appearing as ‘Maya’ in the Channel 4 series ALICE & JACK and as ‘Jane’ in season 4 of ON THE EDGE.
In film, Wood recently wrapped production on the comedy film ANXIOUS PEOPLE directed by Marc Forster and written by David Magee, based on the 2019 novel by Fredrik Backman of the same name. The film also stars Angelina Jolie and Jason Segel.
Wood also recently wrapped production on THE IDIOTS, in which she stars as ‘Anna’ alongside Johnny Flynn. The film is based on the novel “The Gambler Wife: A True Story of Love, Risk, and the Woman Who Saved Dostoyevsky” by Andrew D. Kaufman, and follows the lives of a writer (Flynn) and his wife (Wood) as they embark on their honeymoon, which leads to a 4-year stay at a Swiss resort and a gambling addiction while the writer works on his masterpiece novel.
Up next, Wood will star as ‘Pattie Boyd’ in the upcoming four-part “Beatles” biopic by director Sam Mendes. The films will include Harrison Dickinson, Joseph Quinn, Paul Mescal, Barry Keoghan, Saoirse Ronan, Anna Sawai, and Mia McKenna-Bruce.
Last year, Wood appeared alongside Nicola Coughlan, Lolly Adefope, Nick Frost, and Jessica Hynes in the British comedy film SEIZE THEM!
In 2022, Wood appeared opposite Bill Nighy in Oliver Hermanus’s film, LIVING, which screened at Sundance, Venice, Toronto and London Film Festivals. For this performance, Wood was nominated in the category of Best Supporting Performance at the British Independent Film Awards.
In 2021, Wood can be seen as ‘Clair Wain’ in THE ELECTRICAL LIFE OF LOUIS WAIN directed by Will Sharpe and starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Claire Foy, and Andrea Riseborough.
Wood is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Her stage credits include the role of ‘Sonya’ in UNCLE VANYA at The Harold Pinter Theatre, DOWNSTATE at The National Theatre, and most recently ‘Sally Bowles’ in the critically acclaimed CABARET at London’s Kit Kat Club. For this role, Wood won the Whatsonstage Award for Best Take Over Performance.
In 2023, Wood was honored with a nomination for the prestigious BAFTA EE Rising Star Award.
