Carter Burwell (born in New York City, November 18, 1954) composed the score for most of the movies written and directed by the Coen Brothers, like Blood Simple (1984), Raising Arizona (1987), Miller’s Crossing (1990), Barton Fink (1991), Fargo (1996), The Big Lebowski (1998), No Country for Old Men (2007), True Grit (2010. He also wrote the score for Doc Hollywood (1991), This Boy’s Life (1993) and Rob Roy (1995) directed by Michael Caton-Jones, Kinsey (2004) by Bill Condon, Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead (2007) directed by Sidney Lumet, Where the Wild Things Are (2009) directed by Spike Jonze from the 1963 children’s book by Maurice Sendak, Carol (2015) with Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara, directed by Todd Haynes from the 1952 novel The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith, In Bruges (2008), Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2917) with Frances McDormand, and The Banshees of Inisherin (2022) with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, written and directed by Martin McDonagh.
