Danielle Brooks
Danielle Brooks (born Sept. 17, 1989, in Augusta, GA) joined the cast of Orange is the New Black in 2012 and was promoted to series regular for the second season. She played Sophia in the 2015 stage revival of the musical “The Color Purple,” and received her first Golden Globes nomination as she re-created the performance for the 2023 film. She also starred in Peacemaker (2022), alongside Viola Davis and John Cena. She’s acted in Robin Roberts Presents: Mahalia (2021), All the Little Things We Kill (2019), Sadie (2015), and Master of None (2015).
