Fantasia Barrino
Fantasia Barrino (born June 30, 1984, in North Carolina) became a winner in the third season of “American Idol.” She joined the Broadway cast of the musical “The Color Purple” in 2008. Her autobiography “Life is Not a Fairy Tale” was published in 2005 and adapted into a TV movie the following year.
Reprising her Broadway role in her major motion picture debut, Barrino starred in the adaptation of The Color Purple (2023), produced by Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Quincy Jones. The musical version of Alice Walker’s novel and Marsha Norman’s stage version, was directed by Blitz Bazawule and features a script by Marcus Gardley.
