
Joan Plowright
Joan Plowright (born in Brigg, Lincolnshire, England, October 28, 1929, died January 16, 2025), a theater actress with multiple film and TV credits, acted with eventual husband Laurence Olivier in the movie The Entertainer (1960) directed by Tony Richardson from the play by John Osborne, after performing the role on stage. She later acted in movies like Avalon (1990) by Barry Levinson; Enchanted April (1991) directed by Mike Newell starring Miranda Richardson; Dennis the Menace (1993) with Walter Matthau; The Scarlett Letter (1995) with Demi Moore and Gary Oldman, directed by Roland Joffe, from the novel by Nathaniel Hawthorne; 101 Dalmatians (1996) starring Glenn Close, Jane Eyre (1996) directed by Franco Zeffirelli from the novel by Charlotte Brontë; Tea with Mussolini (1999) by Franco Zeffirelli. She also acted with Robert Duvall in the TV movie Stalin (1992). That telefim marked her second Golden Globe nomination, after Enchanted April.
