
Kemp Powers
Kemp Powers (born October 29, 1973, in Brooklyn, NY) is a playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker. Powers gained acclaim for his stage play One Night in Miami (2013), which imagines a fictional meeting between Muhammad Ali, Malcolm X, Sam Cooke, and Jim Brown. The play later became a film in 2020, directed by Regina King, with Powers adapting his own script. He was the first Black co-director of a Pixar film, with Soul (2020), which he co-wrote as well.
