Larry Kramer

Larry Kramer (born June 25, 1935; died May 27, 2020) wrote and produced the 1970 screen adaptation of D.H. Lawrence’s Women in Love, which won the Golden Globe as Best English-Language Foreign Film (a discontinued category). He also wrote The Normal Heart (2014), three-time Golden Globes nominee, based on his play. Kramer was best known as an activist. He co-founded the Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC), and was the founder of  AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power, aka ACT UP.
