Linda Lavin
Linda Lavin (born in Portland, Maine, October 15, 1937, died December 29, 2024), is best known for starring in the sitcom Alice (1976-1985), based on the movie by Martin Scorsese Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (1974) starring Ellen Burstyn. She received three consecutive Golden Globe nominations for her work, winning for 1978 and 1979. Lavin also starred frequently in plays, winning a Tony Award for Broadway Bound (1987) by Neil Simon. She played roles in movies like The Muppets Take Manhattan (1984), See You in the Morning (1989), The Back-Up Plan (2010), How to Be a Latin Lover (2017), Being the Ricardos (2021), and starred in the TV movie A Matter of Life and Death (1981). She directed 10 episodes of Alice as well as the TV movie Flour Babies (1990). Lavin acted in TV series like The Sopranos (1999-2007), Sean Saves the World (2013-2014), Santa Clarita Diet (2019), B Positive (2020-2022), No Good Deed (2024), and Mid-Century Modern (2025).
