Lynn Whitfield
Lynn Whitfield (born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, February 15, 1953) acted on television in the miniseries The Women of Brewster Place (1989) with Oprah Winfrey and Cicely Tyson, she played the title character in the TV movie The Josephine Baker Story (1991) co-starring Rubén Blades, co-starred with Joe Mantegna in the TV movie State of Emergency (1994), with Anne Bancroft in Deep in My Heart (1999), she played Halle Berry’s mother in The Wedding (1998). She acted in theatrical features like A Thin Line Between Love and Hate (1996) with Martin Lawrence, Eve’s Bayou (1997) written and directed by Kasi Lemmons co-starring Samuel Jackson, Stepmom (1998) by Chris Columbus with Julia Roberts and Susan Sarandon, Head of State (2003) starring and directed by Chris Rock, Madea’s Family Reunion (2006) by Tyler Perry, The Women (2008) written and directed by Diane English. She played the villain in the drama series Greenleaf (2016-2020) produced by Oprah Winfrey.
