Ossie Davis
Raiford Chatman Davis (born in Cogdell, Georgia, December 18, 1917, died February 4, 2005) acted in movies like No Way Out (1950) by Joseph Mankiewicz with Sidney Poitier, The Hill (1965) by Sidney Lumet with Sean Connery, Do the Right Thing (1989) and Jungle Fever (1991) by Spike Lee, which also featured his wife Ruby Dee, The Client (1994) by Joel Schumacher. Davis wrote plays and directed movies such as Black Girl (1972). On television, he acted in Promised Land (1996-1998) and Touched by an Angel (1996-2002), Miss Evers’ Boys (1997), The L World (2004-2005).
