Paul Schrader
Paul Schrader (born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, July 22, 1946), a film director and screenwriter, wrote the screenplays of Taxi Driver (1976), Raging Bull (1980), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), and Bringing Out the Dead (1999), all directed by Martin Scorsese, Obsession (1976) directed by Brian De Palma, The Mosquito Coast (1986) directed by Peter Weir. He wrote and directed movies like Blue Collar (1978) with Richard Pryor, American Gigolo (1980) with Richard Gere, Raging Bull (1981) with Robert De Niro, Cat People (1982) with Nastassja Kinski, Mishima (1985), Light Sleeper (1992) with Willem Dafoe, Affliction (1997) with Nick Nolte, First Reformed (2017) with Ethan Hawke, The Card Counter (2021) with Oscar Isaacs, Master Gardener (2022) with Joel Edgerton and Sigourney Weaver. He directed Patty Hearst (1988) from a screenplay by Nick Kazan, The Comfort of Strangers (1990) from a screenplay by Harold Pinter, Auto Focus (2002).
