Piper Laurie (born Rosetta Jacobs, January 22, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, died October 14, 2023) acted in movies like The Hustler (1961) with Paul Newman, Carrie (1976) by Brian De Palma with Sissy Spacek, Children of a Lesser God (1986) by Randa Haines with William Hurt and Marlee Matlin, Other People’s Money (1991) by Norman Jewison with Danny DeVito. On television she acted in The Thorn Birds (1983), Promise (1986) with James Garner and James Woods, Twin Peaks (1990-1991).
