Zhang Yimou
Zhang Yimou (born Nov. 14, 1951, in Xi’an Shaanxi, China) has been one of China’s most respected directors for several decades. He first gained international acclaim with Red Sorghum (1988) and Raise the Red Lantern (1991), followed by such films as To Live (1994), Hero (2002), House of Flying Daggers (2004), Curse of the Golden Flower (2006), The Great Wall (2016). His films have been nominated for five Golden Globes.
