With Spotlight hitting the screens this Fall, journalists are once again, pardon our pun, in the spotlight. And it's not only Tom McCarthy's film that features the press corps – Trumbo has a significant appearance of iconic Holywood journo Hedda Hopper, and Truth is all about the star of the famed TV news magazine 60 Minutes, Dan Rather (Robert Redford) and his producer, Mary Mapes. The way film and TV signals to the audience that characters are journalists is usually less than charming… but there are some interesting exceptions. Is it all crinkled shirts and frumpy sweats?
