Cannes 2016, Day 7: Lounging, Partying, Dancing
The sun is out for good and Cannes shines in all its glory. The Marché is winding down; the most recent echoes from the cavernous subterraneans of the Palais (which houses the Market) has Croisette enfant terrible Lars Von Trier pitching a serial killer thriller, The House That Jack Built – and closing pre-sales deals with Latin America, Benelux, Poland and Taiwan. Meanwhile, terminal 1 of Nice airport was shut down for several hours thanks to an abandoned piece of luggage. In the current climate unattended suitcases and packages don't get the benefit of the doubt, and the one in question was promptly blown up by the police. No incidents at the gala screenings, so far – except for some boos for Olivier Assayas' Personal Shopper, starring the Croisette's new sweetheart, Kristen Stewart. "When you come to Cannes you are prepared for anything", Assayas wisely reflected.
