Golden Globes Party: Classic Looks in Spotlight at BFI London Fest

Elegance and classic tones dominated the style stakes at the Golden Globes 2024 BFI London Film Festival held at Soho Mews House, Mayfair. Traditional black and white were de riguer, with men making a statement in fashion.

Sebastian Stan, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Adrien Brody stayed with black on black. Cohen chose a tux jacket with studded lapels over a turtleneck. So very European. Brody went with belt-less, casual black jeans which he paired with a fitted black shirt, while Sebastian Stan who is in two award contenders this year – The Apprentice and A Different Man – took the monotone look of Brody, but added a belt and jacket. Jesse Eisenberg went with a superbly tailored suit and simple white shirt. But it was Asa Butterfield who stole the night in an edgy white shirt left open over a tee, teamed with British pinstriped trousers. The shirt mirrored the trouser pinstripe with white on white textured stripes.

Women introduced a spot of color.  Celia Imrie went with a flame jacket over a blue jumper. Jennifer Grey sparkled in a plunging plum top and sequined pencil skirt. Elisa Lasowski and Eunice Olumide chose brights. The former, a clashing orange and pink gown with pocket details and the latter in a red ruched cocktail dress with shoulder-bow detail.

Kingsley Ben-Adir decided on a deconstructed jacket which sported a prominent single button closure which is trending for men with a fashion gene. Sagar Radia was the epitome of an English gentleman in a classic sage suit over a navy sweater, finished with a tie that contrasted and mirrored the hues. Fabrics were superb. Jeremy Strong was also a flash of color in a gold and black cardigan with red buttons over a caramel tee.  However, it was Ruth Wilson who captured the spotlight in a simple black gown whose neckline swooped to her bellybutton, the deep-vee held in  place with a delicate belt mid midriff. Raffey Cassidy was the epitome of ‘young chic’ with a tummy-baring ensemble.
