Golden Globe Awards

As we celebrate Black History Month, we must reflect on the iconic Golden Globe wins of some of the world’s favorite black actors who have shaped the world today. They conquered challenges by demonstrating relentless effort, commitment, and perseverance, breaking glass ceilings in film and TV for generations, viewers, and beyond.

In 2023, UCLA highlighted that Black actors make up 14.8% and 16.2% of all theatrical and streaming roles, respectively. However, we’ve seen many success stories that have inspired multiple generations. Black people in the entertainment industry have seen great strides in advancement in the creative arts that have helped evolve our everyday reality. From “What’s Love Got To Do With It” with Angela Bassett to “The Holdovers” with Da’Vine Joy Randolph, these significant achievements have validated black actors for their unparalleled talents and have created opportunities to portray the Black experience authentically.

During Black History Month, we praise these icons who have shared timeless stories, broken box offices and created new worlds to imagine filled with hope and inspiration.
