Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons is the first living designer since Yves Saint Laurent in 1983 to be the sole subject of the Met’s annual fashion exhibit. The designer, along with Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, and Editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour chaired the Met Gala 2017.
