Last night at Cannes the women wore pastels perfectly. As the stars entered the Palais it was like magic: the flash of the lights, the press of the crowd, the frantic calls of the photographers – “Over here, Madame, over here”. It was no wonder that Kristen Dunst broke down, the emotion of the moment too big. The men were like old school versions of impeccable manliness in black tuxes that served as a frame for the gowns.
