Hollywood, so goes an old adage, loves movies about Hollywood. And most critics and film lovers agree: To this day, there is none better than Sunset Boulevard.

In the room devoted to a Spike Lee exhibit at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, which opened to the public in 2021, there hang three posters of movies that inspired the lauded director: Breathless (1960), by Jean-Luc Godard; Seven Beauties (1975), by Lina Wertmüller; and The Bicycle Thief (1948), by Vittorio De Sica. On April 16, 1945, as a festive Hollywood crowd gathered in the Terrace Room at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the end of World War II in Europe was only three weeks away. There was a feeling of relief in the air, of hope and happy endings.

There will be no HFPA exclusive press conferences this year. The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announced today that the organization will not hold any press conferences for eligible content of the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards®.
