78th Golden Globe Awards

Each year the Hollywood Foreign Press Association awards the Golden Globe in the Foreign Language Film category. To qualify, a film must be a motion picture drama, musical or comedy with at least 51% of the dialogue spoken in a non-English language.

Charlatan, directed by Polish director Agnieska Holland from a script by Marek Epstein, is about the life of Czech healer/herbalist Jan Mikolášek (1889-1973). The film shows the holistic healer at the height of his power when he counted among his patients the Communist President of Czechoslovakia Antonin Zapotocky and Nazi party official Martin Bormann.

Paradise War tells the true story of a Swiss environmentalist, Bruno Manser, who joined the nomadic Penan tribe in their fight against the catastrophic deforestation in Borneo during the late ‘80s. Bruno Manser eventually went missing in the depths of the Malaysian jungle.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) has announced the awards timetable for the 78th Annual Golden Globe® Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler: The February 28, 2021 ceremony will air live coast to coast 5-8 p. m.

UPDATE: 01/29/21 On January 28, 2021, the HFPA adopted the following clarification to these special COVID rules: All motion picture drama, musical/comedy, foreign language and animated film submissions entered for consideration for the 2021 Golden Globe awards whose release schedule changes between February 3, 2021 (day of the nominations) and February 28, 2021 (end of current eligibility period) and therefore become ineligible for the 2021 awards because their release is delayed to a date after February 28, 2021, also will not be eligible for the 2022 awards.  If you anticipate that your film’s release date will be delayed to a date after February 28, 2021, please advise us prior to the announcement of our 2021 nominations on February 3, 2021.

Official Motion Picture Screenings:  To be eligible for Golden Globe motion picture awards, an official screening of the motion picture must be arranged for all HFPA members: All members qualified to vote for Golden Globe Awards must be invited to an official screening of the eligible motion picture at a third-party facility in the greater Los Angeles area.
