Durante el rodaje del cortometraje Te amo tanto que escribí una película para nunca enojarme con vos, Alba Cravero se dio cuenta de que era transgénero. Esa comprensión no debía ser ignorada: Cravero, quien entonces hizo la transición de mujer a hombre, supo en ese momento que necesitaba comenzar el proceso para convertirse en su verdadero yo.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) makes it presence felt at the Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente (BAFICI). Three members attended the Argentinian film festival, Argentinian members Gerardo Prat and Gabriel Lerman as well as the undersigned.

During the process of shooting the short film I Love You So Much I Wrote a Movie to Never Get Upset with You, Alba Cravero realized he was transgender. That realization was not to be ignored: Cravero – who has since transitioned from female to male – knew then and there that he needed to start the process to become his true self.

The Cake Factory is Christian Lollike’s first feature film. The 50-year-old Dane is a prolific playwright and a well-known name in contemporary Scandinavian theatre, but directing a feature film is new territory for the accomplished writer.

El Gran Movimiento begins with an aerial series of manmade landscapes, moving in from great to smaller scope: the Bolivian capital La Paz, a vast mesa of cement; the gutted hillsides surrounding the city; roads and high-rises; cable cars traveling back and forth; distorted images of faceless passers-by seen through curved traffic mirrors; a torn, faded poster of a smiling face flapping in the wind, a “hidden trace of time. ” The sense of suffocation is intense.

Although Javier Porta Fouz has been the artistic director of the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (Buenos Aires Festival Internacional de Cine Independiente, popularly known as BAFICI) since 2016, his relationship with the festival began much earlier, having programmed 19 of the previous 23 editions. In a rare moment of calm in the days before the festival, which takes place this year from April 20 to May 1, Porta Fouz told us about his expectations regarding what will happen in the coming days and what should not be missed.

At the Buenos Aires Independent Film Festival (BAFICI), which returns to the cinemas for its 23rd edition which runs from April 19 to May 1, 2022, the HFPA will hold several events that will highlight its contributions to film restoration and cultural exchange. This year, the Festival will devote a section to screening restored Argentine classics such as Mario Soffici's Prisoners of the Land (1939) and Manuel Antin's The Odd Number (1962), as well as international gems like L'avventura (1960) and Il desserto rosso (1964) from Michelangelo Antonioni, among many others.

BAFICI, the Buenos Aires International Festival of Independent Cinema, celebrated its 21st birthday with 10 days of intense activity. Non-stop screenings, some of them at capacity, professional meetings, labs, a 48-hour marathon of free cinema marked the festival as well as parties, lots of them.

BAFICI (the independent film festival of Buenos Aires) wrapped its19th edition leaving a great impression. Boasting a wide selection of over 400 titles from all over the world, the festival showed quality and diversity in its international, national and Latin American sections.
