1953 was indeed a peculiar year. On the comedy or musical front, With a Song in My Heart took the Globe from Singin’ in the Rain, later to be celebrated as the best musical of all time and inspire generations of filmmakers (including Damien Chazelle, winner of the same award in 2017 with his La La Land).

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association celebrated George Clooney, the recipient of the 2015 Cecil B. deMille Lifetime Achievement Award at an intimate cocktail reception in honor of the actor-producer-director who already had 3 Golden Globes (and 11 nominations) to his name.

He has won four Golden Globes during his career and now George Clooney will be honored with the 2015 Cecil B. deMille Award.

The Cecil B. deMille award is given each year by the Hollywood Foreign Press to an individual of demontstrated outstanding achievement in film and television entertainment.

    The HFPA's recent trip to New York for a series of interviews was topped off by a visit from Woody Allen, who is to receive the association's Cecil B. deMille Award for his outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.

“I saw the Ten Commandments and I feel that I live up to at least two of them,” jokes writer/director/actor/legend Woody Allen when talking about Cecil B. deMille, the legendary director who lent his name to the life achievement award which he will receive on January 12, 2014 during the upcoming Golden Globes.

Woody Allen was once asked at an HFPA press conference what he would be if he weren’t a filmmaker. “I’ve given it a lot of thought,” he says.
