The Flash opened in China on Friday, day and date with North America, with about 300 advance screenings on Tuesday and Wednesday. It premiered in Beijing on June 11 with fans arriving dressed as the characters in the film – Batman, The Flash and Supergirl – which contributed to the festive atmosphere, according to China Daily.

The 30th edition of the Shanghai International Film Festival had its opening ceremony last Friday, June 9, when the star of the US-China co-production Meg 2: The Trench, Jason Statham, and director Ben Wheatley walked the red carpet accompanied by his Chinese co-stars. The film opens in China on August 4.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse led the Chinese box office charts this weekend with $18. 05 million grossed over the three-day weekend.

Fast X, which opened last weekend in China, continued to dominate the box office in the territory, with $113. 86 million grossed over its run of 12 days and $18.

China’s so-called Top Gun, the military film Born to Fly which was pulled from release last October when it was scheduled to open on China’s National Day, now has an April 28 release date, in time for the May Day holiday, according to Variety. The film will also begin previews in the UK on that date.

While The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a super hit worldwide, grossing $500 million in the international market in a week, it didn’t do that well in China, earning a so-so $17.
