Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore

Four new movies arrived at the French box office this week. Thanks to the school break and the Easter holidays, animation and light fiction films were the most successful.

Italians flocked to the cinema over the Easter weekend. And Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, the third installment of the prequel to the Harry Potter saga, climbed in its first week of programming at the Box Office, reaching the top position and the €4 million mark.

Easter Monday is a holiday, too, in most European countries and therefore counts as part of the box office weekend. But despite the additional day, there was hardly any change in ranking as well as ticket sales.

Despite earning $43 million and topping the domestic box office chart, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore opened not so fantastically, according to box office analysts. The third installment in Eddie Redmayne’s Fantastic Beasts series continued the downward slope of the J.

After much controversy over the removal of six seconds of dialogue editing out all references to the romantic relationship of Dumbledore (Jude Law) and Grindlewald (Mads Mikkelsen), Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore won the week at the China box office, earning $14. 7 million since its opening on April 9.
