Golden Globes 2023 Non-English Language Film Submissions

The Kings of the World is Colombian director Laura Mora’s second feature film and a film about having or not having a safe place in the world. It takes place in the bustling city of Medellin, the second largest city in Colombia, and follows the 19 year-old Ra (Carlos Andres Castaneda), who lives and hustles in the streets.

Snow and bears are not immediately associated with Turkey. Maybe that’s the reason why writer-director-producer Selcen Ergun takes her time in introducing us to this seeming abnormality: in one long take we follow a car slithering through an expansive and uninviting winter scape, a tiny red dot on a white canvas.

With Nostalgia, Italian writer/director Mario Martone returns to the heart of his beloved hometown of Naples, many years after his acclaimed L'amore molesto (Troubled Love, 1995). This time, he explores the historical, colorful, and troubled aera of Naples’s Rione Sanità.
