World War III is an Iranian thriller drama that begins as a black comedy and becomes darker as the story goes on. Directed, co-written, produced, and edited by Houman Seyyedi, the film is about Shakib (Mohsen Tanabandeh), a homeless day laborer who lost his wife and son in an earthquake years ago and is now working as a construction worker on a film about the atrocities committed by Hitler during World War II.

The coming-of-age movie Make a Wish follows Kaan, a young boy living a happy life in the countryside, until one day he learns that his family are moving to Istanbul. Upset by the news, and not wanting to leave his friends behind, Kaan finds a solution in a book titled “Make A Wish,” given to him by his aunt for his birthday.

Sara (Laura Galán) is a teenager who has grown up behind the counter of her father´s butcher shop. There, surrounded by sharp knives, bloody meat and animal carcasses she feels safe from her tormentors - a trio of girls (Irene Ferreiro, Camille Aguilar and Claudia Salas) who mercilessly bully her and make fun of her weight, and her own mother (Carmen Machi) who insists she must diet to avoid the constant teasing from the other girls in town.

Il Boemo tells the life story of an 18th century composer who traveled from Prague to Venice, Italy in 1763 at the age of 25 to pursue his dream of creating music and succeeded. His name being Josef Mysliveček, which was difficult to pronounce, he was nicknamed “il Boemo” by the Italians, meaning a man from Bohemia, a historical kingdom now part of the Czech Republic.

“My friend and I thought, why are there no movies about an action grandma?”That’s how Martika Ramirez Escobar conceived Leonor Will Never Die, her audacious feature directing debut which won a special jury prize at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, the Amplify Voices Award at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, and just recently earned a best international feature nomination for Film Independent’s Spirit Awards. Escobar, in our interview via email, said that the absence of an “action star grandma” in Philippine cinema propelled her to write Leonor Will Never Die.
