Outfest is one of the few LGBTQIA+ arts, media, and entertainment organizations created to empower and encourage developing artists to achieve their dreams in telling their stories to the world. It produces two film festivals, a streaming platform, and runs educational services for filmmakers in Los Angeles.

What do Joseph Lopir, a student of FilmAid´s Media Training Program at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya; Abdiqathar Keinan, of the Media Training Program at Dadaab Refugee Camp; and Lismari Machado, a member of the Communication Network that serves the Wayuu Community, the largest indigenous community in Colombia, have in common? They share the passion and willingness to tell stories that reflect the reality of their own communities. FilmAid is a non-profit organization founded by film producer Caroline Baron in 2001 with the mission of empowering refugee communities to strengthen their ability to access high-quality, lifesaving information, as well as advocate for themselves through filmmaking and visual storytelling.

HFPA Grantee A Place Called Home provides a safe, nurturing environment with proven programs in arts, education and wellness for the young people in South Central Los Angeles to help them. "Without You" music and video was produced by the members of APCH and is described by them as "a beautiful piece about the impact of absent fathers in the life of these young people.

For our 2021 Golden Globes pre-show, the young spoken word artists of Get Lit - Words Ignite composed this original poem embodying the creative spirit and aspirational power of young creators that make us simply stop.

Get Lit: Words Ignite fuses classic and spoken word poetry to increase teen literacy on the page and in visual media. We cultivate enthusiastic learners emboldened to inspire social consciousness in diverse communities.

This is Me is a collective performance based on the song by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, featuring young creators supported by the HFPA. It was created by Ayo Awosika and Melissa Axel, directed by Samuel Curtis and edited by Peter Davis and featured on the "Empowering the Next Generation" specially produced by Pala Abou Jaoude, Scott Orlin and Luca Celada.
