Grants

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) was founded with the mission of advancing the art of film. Over the last 28 years, the association has donated more than $55 million to organizations related to the entertainment industry as well as to humanitarian causes, has offered more than 2,200 scholarships to film students, and has funded the restoration of 138 films.

Trapped, a nearly lost movie from 1949 which was restored last year thanks to a grant from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, was the featured presentation at the opening night of Noir City 17, the annual festival sponsored by the Film Noir Foundation. The historic Castro movie theater in San Francisco was again the venue.

Through our annual grant program, the HFPA helped non-profit group ‘Australians in Film’ to support IndigenousLA, a program to bring Indigenous filmmakers to Hollywood for the first time, to expand their career.  Warwick Thornton is one of Australia’s most acclaimed filmmakers.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) will host its annual Grants Banquet on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. More than $2 million in funds to nonprofit entertainment-related organizations and scholarship programs will be presented, with the help of A-list stars, like in previous years.

The HFPA's Annual Grants Banquet is the perfect Summer match to our much bigger Winter affair, the Golden Globes. Like the Globes, it gathers the industry together in a sophisticated but relaxed environment, with the added bonus of everyone's attention to the other side of the business: its impact on the community, and the work of several cultural, education and charitable non-profits.

What a night! Over $2. 4 million were given away to non profits, universities and schools, and stars, execs and guests had a great time.
