For over 40 years the HFPA has recorded famous and celebrated actresses, actors and filmmakers. The world's largest collection of its kind - over 10,000  items - is now in the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences Margaret Herrick Library.

Lorenzo Soria was elected president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) for the 2019-2020 term which will commence on July 1. The news was announced at the organization’s annual election meeting by outgoing president Meher Tatna.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) and The Hollywood Reporter (THR) today announced a strategic partnership ahead of the 2020 Golden Globes. THR will join forces with the HFPA to produce its signature soirée at the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the annual Golden Globe Ambassador party in Los Angeles.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) awarded Help Refugees, a nonprofit organization which provides humanitarian aid to, and advocacy for, refugees around the world, a $500,000 grant at the 2019 Festival de Cannes at their annual philanthropic celebration at Nikki Beach, held in association with Participant Media, located at the center of the Croisette. Helen Mirren presented the grant to Help Refugees on behalf of the HFPA, which will go toward the organization’s pioneering mission of providing humanitarian aid with minimal overhead and maximum impact.

Avengers: Endgame may have taken the worldwide box office by storm, but over 100 smaller Superheroes converged on Beverly Hills, holding their own Superheroes Adventure Walk this Sunday. Organized by Lollipop Theater, this year’s 3rd annual walk raised funds and awareness for Lollipop’s programs, which aim to provide hospitalized children and their families with a fun escape from their daily reality.

The HFPA Residency brings young filmmakers to Hollywood for a three-week intensive program of master classes and workshops on film making and distribution and intensive sessions on financing as well as screenings.  Fellows are paired with individual mentors who are respected filmmakers to help hone their skills and help them onto the next stage of their careers.

On March 9, 2019, the HFPA hosted a summit to spotlight the crisis threatening the world's film heritage. Luminaries in the film preservation field discussed the decay endangering films worldwide and the need to restore, archive and protect them before it’s too late.

The first Film Restoration Summit convened by the HFPA was held on March 9  at the historic Theater at the Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. The building erected by United Artists founders Charles Chaplin, Mary Pickford, and Douglas Fairbanks and specifically its flagship theater, with its ornate a baroque and Hollywood Spanish revival decorations, could not have been more appropriate for a discussion about the crisis facing film heritage around the world.

Among the glitter and glamour of the red carpet, they were a discreet presence but the five young filmmakers nevertheless embodied an important part of what the Golden Globes – and the HFPA – are about: a celebration of storytelling as global art form and universal language. We are talking about the five fellows of the first ever HFPA Residency who attended the HFPA Golden Globe Viewing party as our guests this year.
