Pat Harrington Jr. , four-time nominee and Golden Globe winner in 1982 as Best Supporting Actor in a TV Comedy has died at age 86, in Los Angeles.

Golden Globe winner, British actor and director Alan Rickman, has died of cancer, age 69. Rickman won the Globe in 1997, for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for TV, playing the title role of the Russian mad monk Rasputin, in Uli Edel's eponymous movie, Rasputin: Dark Servant of Destiny (1996).

British actor Alan Rickman passed away, losing a battle against cancer at the age of 69. Like film fans the world over, at the HFPA we mourn the consummate professional and beloved thespian (a term ever so appropriate for this classically trained actor).

David Bowie, the news of whose death shocked the world just after the Golden Globes ceremony, was also a nominee. Among his universally celebrated accomplishments, the British rocker who died Sunday at age 69 at his home in New York, earned his Golden Globe nomination in 1982 for writing the title song for Cat People, the erotic horror film directed by two-times Golden Globe nominee Paul Schrader, and starring Nastassja Kinski (two nominations and one win) and Malcolm McDowell (one nomination).

The world has lost a great number of artists in 2015: writers and actors, composers and performers, creators and interpreters. But the Hollywood Foreign Press has a special connection to those whose names are associated with the Golden Globes.

This month marks 35 years since the passing of Steve McQueen – an actor whose light burned bright during a career cut short by cancer in 1980. Until then the “king of cool” as he came to be known, embodied the rebel, nonconformist, maverick leading man like no one perhaps before or since.

Horror master Wes Craven died in his Los Angeles home this past Sunday August 30, 2015 after a long battle with brain cancer. He was 76.

The HFPA family lost a long standing member and a cherished friend this week. Ahmed Lateef was originally from India, he moved to the U.

Longtime HFPA member Ahmed Lateef has died after suffering a stroke. Ahmed, a member since 1973 , was regarded as a pioneer who paved the way for other Indian filmmakers who followed in his footsteps.
