Golden Globe winner Neil Simon, iconic playwright and screenwriter, has died, aged 91. One of the most prolific and influential American writers of stage and screen, Simon was nominated for a Golden Globe-Best Screenplay-Motion Picture three times: in 1973, for The Heartbreak Kid (directed by Elaine May); in 1976 for The Sunshine Boys (directed by Herbert Ross), and in 1978 for The Goodbye Girl, which he won.
