A boy growing up in Dublin in the 1980s decides to form a band to escape loneliness and bullying. “I love John (Carney), he’s the best”, says Adam Levine, who composed the song “Go Now” for the movie.

An aspiring actress (Emma Stone) and a struggling jazz musician (Ryan Gosling) meet and fall in love in Los Angeles, city of stars. “Part of what is wonderful about Los Angeles is that it doesn’t reveal itself to you right away”, writer/director Damien Chazelle told us.

In 1979 Santa Barbara, California, three women find their way through a changing world: a single mom (Annette Bening), a budding photographer (Greta Gerwig) and a precocious teen (Elle Fanning). The story cuts close to writer/director Mike Mills: “I make personal movies because I feel like it’s my best chance to make a good movie”, Mills told us.
