Nominee Profile 2022: Steve Martin, “Only Murders in the Building”

Comedian, writer, actor, author, and musician, the multitalented Steve Martin has been making audiences laugh for decades; in 2021, after having spent the last decade touring with his band, the Steep Canyon Rangers, Martin has returned to acting full force with Only Murders in the Building. The comedy-mystery set in New York centers around Charles, a washed-up TV star played by Steve Martin; Oliver, a struggling Broadway director played by Martin Short.

Nominee Profile 2022: Anthony Anderson, “Black-ish”

Anthony Anderson is a force to be reckoned with in the TV world, where he has made a name for himself as Andre “Dre” Johnson, the successful advertising executive who will go above and beyond to maintain his Blackness so that his kids will not forget their heritage in ABC sitcom Black-ish. The Golden Globe-winning show, which ended its seventh season earlier in 2021, is about a family man who struggles to maintain a sense of identity while raising his kids in a largely white, affluent neighborhood.

Nominee Profile 2022: Brian Cox, “Succession”

Brian Cox, the 75-year-old Scottish actor, was nominated for his portrayal of the overbearing, foul-mouthed, dominant patriarch Logan Roy of the Roy family, the owners of the fifth largest media conglomerate in the world, Waystar Royco, in the hit mini-series Succession. Cox, who was previously nominated in 2001 for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Television or Film for Nuremberg and won in 2020 for Best Actor – Television Series Drama for Succession, again earned this year’s Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by An Actor in a Television Series – Drama for Succession.
