Nominee Profile 2022: Oscar Isaac, “Scenes from a Marriage”

The year 2021 might well be called Oscar Isaac’s year: this year, the Golden Globe winner has been seen in three critically acclaimed projects, all of which premiered globally at the Venice Film Festival: The Card Counter by Paul Schrader, Dune by Denis Villeneuve and HBOs Scenes from a Marriage – it was the last that brought him his third Golden Globe nomination. This year he was nominated for Best Actor – Limited, Series, Anthology or a Motion Picture made for Television – for the role of Jonathan Levy in an English-language remake of Ingmar Bergman’s iconic television series of the same name created by Hagai Levi.

On Music: Oscar Isaac and Acting as Counterpoint

Golden Globe winner - and Guatemala-born- Oscar Isaac debuts this week as a producer with the thrilling dramatic account of the capture of Adolf Eichmann, the SS commander who masterminded the brutal extermination of six million Jews during World War II, The film, Operation Finale,  recounts the Argentinian capture from the POV of Mossad agent Peter Malkin (Isaac) who convinced Eichmann (Ben Kingsley) to sign his release from Argentina to stand trial in Israel. Oscar Isaac is an accomplished musician - his love for music was shown in the Cohen Brothers’ Inside Llewyn Davis.

HFPA JOINS NEW YORK PREMIERE OF COEN BROTHERS FILM

Oscar Isaac, who has the title role, rocks with Mumford and the Punch Brothers A roster of stellar musicians under the guidance of legendary music producer T-Bone Burnett performed a benefit concert for the movie Inside Llewyn Davis at the Town Hall in New York City and attended by a group of HFPA members. The film, written and directed by Ethan and Joel Coen and produced by Scott Rudin, follows the fictional out-of-luck folk singer Llewyn  Davis , played by Oscar Isaac, drifting through the New York Club scene of the 1960s.
