Rupert Everett

Rupert Everett enjoyed quite the wild full circle moment last year, more than two decades after the famously handsome Brit had taken Hollywood, and much of the cinema-going world, by storm. It was 1997 when the British actor - out since the 1980s - almost stole My Best Friend’s Wedding from his equally attractive co-stars Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz and Dermot Mulroney.

His admiration for Oscar Wilde started as a kid when his mother read the fairy tale The Happy Prince to him before he went to sleep.   Back then, Rupert Everett didn’t think about an Irish author who was exiled for his sexuality in the 1800s.

Rupert Everett joined a prestigious cohort of first time directors at Sundance 2018 (also making their debut here among others Paul Dano and Idris Elba). His first directorial effort, The Happy Prince recounts the lesser known latter days of English writer playwright and wit Oscar Wilde whom Everett also plays.

With his salt and pepper beard and some lines of time on his still handsome face, British actor Rupert Everett, 58, still possesses a matinee idol look.   He's one of the first Hollywood stars to come out as a gay man and enjoying a sizable and durable career.
