What actor Russell Crowe – Golden Globe winner for A Beautiful Mind ( 2002) and Oscar winner for Gladiator (2001) – really wants to be is a rock star. And the 59-year-old New Zealand-born Australian is proving it by touring Italy with his band, Indoor Garden Party, at times with his acoustic guitar strapped to his shoulder.

Poker Face stars Russell Crowe as a tech billionaire and gambler Jake Foley, who invites his childhood friends for a night out for a high-stakes poker game and offers them a chance to win more money than they could ever imagine. But to play the game, they’ll have to reveal the one thing they spend their lives trying to keep: their longtime secrets.

The 2020 edition of the  Annual Foreign Language Film Series kicked off on August 29 with the first of four symposia with directors of Foreign Films qualifying for Golden Globe consideration: Valentyn Vasyanovych (Atlantis - Ukraine), Agnieszka Holland (Charlatan - Czech Republic), Linda Dombrovszky (Pilátus -Hungary), Klim Shipenko (Text - Russia).  Watch it again here.

In our second annual Restoration Summit, presented at the American Cinematheque, the HFPA is proud to present two days of films, conversations and lectures surveying the latest developments in film preservation and restoration. The HFPA, whose recent contributions include the restoration of the 1926 silent film THE BLACK PIRATE (spearheaded by director Alexander Payne and currently in progress), is committed to preserving film heritage and supporting restorations of films worldwide.
