The Mountain Between Us

Coming first is always the goal for a new release but sometimes winning is not enough. Sony’s Blade Runner 2049, a sequel to Ridley Scott’s historic 1982 Sci-Fi masterpiece, opened at home this weekend to an unspectacular $31.

There is no stopping Idris Elba. The Golden Globe-winning Brit actor (and soon to be director) seems to be busier than ever before.

Directed by Hany Abu-Assad and written by Chris Weitz and J. Mills Goodloe, The Mountain Between Us is accurately billed as a “disaster-romance”, where the former is a high altitude plane crash which leaves British Surgeon Ben Bass (Idris Elba) and American photojournalist Alex Martin (Kate Winslet) stranded and sole survivors in the remote Rocky Mountain wilderness.

It felt like an offer that you can’t refuse: an invitation to the final day of the live scoring of the film The Mountain Between Us at the Newman Scoring Stage, on the Fox Studios backlot. The composer?  Wiz kid Ramin Djawadi, who gave us the unforgettable signature and the dramatic soundtrack  of Game of Thrones.
