Toronto International Film Festival

This time the stars in attendance were, in fact, too numerous to mention. Let's just say that the HFPA/InStyle TIFF party at the Windsor Arms further consolidated its reputation for the festivals best-attended affair.

Black was a surprising trend at the glittering HFPA/InStyle party with George Clooney making an early arrival and all the stars turning up to celebrate TIFF.

Festivals are a great crossroads of talent - many a new project is launched, many plans become reality and many new partnerships have begun in festivals like Toronto. It is also the perfect meeting spot for friends, collaborators and, in many cases, family.

Times are lean and Toronto isn't exactly party central, but, like all grade AA festivals, TIFF has its party and special events circuit. The weekend is the height of the party wave, led by our own HFPA/InStyle at the Windsor Arms Hotel.

Once again, the traditional party thrown by the HFPA and InStyle at the Toronto International Film Festival was a success. Back to its usual digs at the Windsor Arms Hotel the party gathered stars and filmmakers in a joyful celebration of talent - and friendship.

A festival as huge as Toronto has its share of parties, galas and receptions. But that's not the main reason stars and filmmakers track up north - Toronto is a great buzz amplifier and a perfect location to support and draw attention to their latest projects.

Actress, writer, trendsetter, activist and now also producer, Maria Bello presents at the 41st edition of the Toronto International Film Festival her latest endeavor. The Journey is the Destination is the remarkable story of Dan Eldon, an artist, adventurer and Reuters News Agency’s youngest photojournalist, who was killed in Somalia in 1993 while covering the plight of a nation enduring war and famine.

Director Antoine Fuqua’s The Magnificent Seven will have its world premiere at the opening of the Toronto Film Festival, on September 8. Fuqua’s take on the 1960 western directed by John Sturges (which in turn was an American version of Akira Kurosawa’s Seven Samurai, from 1954) stars Cecil B.
