Now running through October 27, 20 double programs that take place at the Academy Museum highlight the series made up of films that mostly have B cinema aesthetics, with monsters that do not deny their low-budget bill, coming from either beyond the grave, from outer space or from hell itself.

It is not often that we see a big Hollywood star attach his name to an unknown filmmaker from one of the smallest countries in Europe. But Idris Elba didn’t have to think twice when the Belgian photographer Hannelore Vandenbussche pitched her six-part sports documentary to him.

Through interviews and first-hand footage from the rescue and reenactments of the events, the Netflix documentary shows how 12 young boys and their soccer coach were able to survive in the flooded Tham Luang cave for 17 days.

On November 4, the Bolivian film Utama, directed by Alejandro Loayza, will be released commercially in New York at the famed Film Forum theater. Later, it will also open in Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities.
